Accepting a repaired pumping installation: a handover matrix
Record checks for mechanics, electrical equipment, controls and process performance separately. Define the acceptance scenario, responsible owners and outstanding handover items.
Accept the pump with its installation boundaries
A pump operating in isolation does not establish acceptance of the whole installation. Pipe interfaces, the drive, power supply, signals and process requirements may have different owners. Mark contractor and site boundaries on a diagram when the repair scope is agreed. Include existing equipment that remains outside the repair but is necessary for the final demonstration.

Illustrative acceptance of standby operation
In an illustrative assignment, the client wants automatic duty/standby selection verified. The plan names the process owner authorising the scenario, the person directing the test, observed signals and stop criteria. It does not prescribe valve positions or energisation steps; those belong to the approved procedure for the actual installation.
The final record should contain the starting condition, observation, acceptance criterion and exceptions, not merely “passed”. Record units explicitly, such as m³/h for flow, bar for pressure and °C for temperature, and identify the instruments used.
Assign ownership of outstanding issues
Include current drawings, change records, test evidence and agreed operating limitations in the handover package. Give every outstanding item an owner and closure criterion. If acceptance of mechanical repairs and permission to operate the process are separate decisions, show separate statuses. This makes partial handover understandable without overstating readiness of the complete station.
