Rehabilitating wastewater infrastructure

Sofcon and partner contractors rehabilitated wastewater treatment and transfer infrastructure for Sumqayıt Su Kanal. The project covered pipelines, pumping stations, an electrical substation and compressors. Bringing these systems into working order required coordination of mechanical equipment, power supply and controls.

Pipelines and pumping stations

Pipeline work included condition assessment, dismantling, cleaning and restoration. Unserviceable parts were replaced and new sections installed. The team completed flanged and threaded joints and checked leak tightness and equipment connections.

Pumps and auxiliary equipment were dismantled for condition assessment, restored and reinstalled. Inlet and outlet lines, motors and controls were checked. Valves and related fittings were inspected and replaced where necessary. Work included alignment, fastening and trial starts.

Electrical systems and compressors

Substation electrical equipment and distribution systems were restored. Power cables, electrical connections and control and protection functions were checked. The equipment underwent tests against electrical safety requirements and final technical checks before startup.

Compressors were dismantled for inspection of their main assemblies, repaired and reinstalled. Air lines and associated pipe systems were connected, and electrical and control connections were checked. Operating parameters were checked during trial starts.

Systems prepared to work together

Individual functional tests, leak checks and trial starts of pumps and compressors established how the systems worked together. Identified issues were corrected and operating modes adjusted. The work restored equipment functionality and prepared the systems for operation.
