A coordinated supply programme for telecom infrastructure
Telecom sites depend on electrical, protection, monitoring and cable systems alongside their primary equipment. For Azercell, Sofcon’s role was to source and supply the components of these connected engineering systems within a coordinated programme.
The specification agreed in 2022 covered 31 line items. Its scale extended to hundreds of cable entries and monitoring devices, together with thousands of electrical-protection and earthing components. This breadth called for procurement planning across product families with different technical requirements and quantities.
Electrical protection and earthing
The agreed electrical-protection scope comprised 1,820 Siemens circuit breakers rated from 16 to 100 A for 230/400 V circuits. The range covered the equipment needed to protect electrical circuits with different loads.
The earthing scope brought together 1.5-metre copper-plated rods, indoor and outdoor busbars, and TAM ground-enhancement material. The agreed quantities included 4,533 rods and 1,505 busbars. The wider supply scope also covered earthing conductors and a passive lightning-protection air terminal.
Site monitoring and signalling
The monitoring and signalling scope covered fire detection, door status and temperature. The agreed programme included 822 fire detectors and 620 LED beacons operating at 48 V, intended for event detection and visual signalling at technical sites.
Door and temperature sensors addressed monitoring of the technical environment, complemented by Finder 220 V relay assemblies. The specification covered 497 units in each of these three groups, bringing the different elements of monitoring and signalling systems into one supply scope.
Cable entries and cable-route protection
A major cable-infrastructure item was the Roxtec C ComShelt/18 cable entry, with 728 units in the agreed specification. Designed for telecom shelters and cabinets, this solution combines a lightweight composite frame, an integrated compression unit and modules for cables and pipes of different diameters.
This scope also covered UTP Ethernet cable, cable-entry sealing sets, conduits and cable-support products. Supply therefore spanned complementary product groups, from the cable’s entry into a site or enclosure through to its support and mechanical protection along the route.
Coordinating multiple product families in one programme
Sofcon sourced Siemens protection equipment, Finder relays, Roxtec cable entries, and earthing and monitoring products against the agreed specification. The programme provided for staged handover and acceptance by product group.
