Motor and drive enquiries: capture the complete identity

Record the motor and its drive separately. Use nameplates, complete order codes, options and installed-unit documents to identify the equipment for repair or replacement.

Two product records for one mechanism

A motor converts electrical energy into mechanical motion; the drive controlling it is ordered separately. Sharing an installation does not give them the same serial number or order code. Capture each complete nameplate, overall view and asset number. If only a module is sent for repair, add its label and identify the cabinet it belongs to.

Nameplate data matrix

Keep each value with its unit. Transcribe rows for different frequencies or connections intact, without mixing values; an engineer identifies the applicable operating row.

A base code is not the final configuration

The Siemens catalogue identifies 6SL3710-2GE41-1AA3-Z as a SINAMICS G150. Losing the option details and order document can lead to the wrong package from the same family. In a practical enquiry, attach the base code, every additional option code and the cabinet label together. Catalogue information supports initial identification; the order and handover records establish the complete configuration of the installed unit.

Choose the requested outcome

For repair, add symptoms and previous interventions; for replacement, add interfaces and dimensions that must remain compatible, plus the approval process. The same kW rating does not guarantee mechanical or electrical compatibility. Copy special protection and Ex markings completely and refer them to the responsible specialist. The offer should identify each difference, the additional work required and how the result will be verified.
